A Community Investment Comes Full Circle

Gold Beach, Ore. — Gold Beach Main Street is proud to celebrate the successful completion of the Oregon Main Street Revitalization Grant project at Barnacle Bistro, marking the culmination of nearly two years of planning, partnership, and community investment.

Barnacle Bistro has reopened its doors with a beautifully restored and revitalized space, ready to welcome residents and visitors alike.

The project was made possible through an Oregon Main Street Revitalization Grant of $301,564, matched by $128,336 through contributions from Barnacle Bistro owner Evan Boley, a $10,000 City of Gold Beach Revitalization Grant, and significant in-kind support from community volunteers, Gold Beach Main Street grant administration, and project manager Daryl Cross.

The completed improvements preserve one of Gold Beach's most recognizable restaurants while ensuring it is equipped to serve the community for decades to come. Renovations included structural improvements, roof replacement, accessibility and restroom upgrades, kitchen improvements, exterior restoration, new paint, and preservation of the building's iconic yurt-style architecture.

The Barnacle Bistro project represents much more than a building renovation. It demonstrates what is possible when local businesses, volunteers, city leadership, and statewide partners work together to invest in the long-term vitality of downtown Gold Beach.

Gold Beach Main Street extends its sincere gratitude to Oregon Main Street and Oregon Parks and Recreation for investing in rural communities through the Revitalization Grant Program. The organization also thanks Barnacle Bistro owner Evan Boley for his commitment to the project, the City of Gold Beach for its financial support, Sanct Architecture, Rogue River Builders LLC, Darryl Cross for project management, the many community members who contributed their time and expertise, and the Gold Beach Main Street Revitalization Committee whose months of planning and reports helped make this project possible.

This project began as one of numerous applications reviewed by Gold Beach Main Street's Revitalization Committee before advancing to the highly competitive Oregon Main Street grant program. Out of 76 applications submitted statewide, only 35 projects were selected for funding, making this award a significant achievement for Gold Beach.

The completion of the Barnacle Bistro project serves as a reminder of the lasting value of the Oregon Main Street Revitalization Grant Program. Although the program was not funded during the 2025 legislative session and no new grant cycle is currently planned before 2029, its impact will continue to be seen in communities like Gold Beach for decades to come. Through strategic public investment and strong local partnerships, projects like Barnacle Bistro strengthen downtown economies, preserve community landmarks, support small businesses, and inspire continued private investment.
