Help Shape the Future of Downtown Gold Beach

The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) and Kittelson & Associates are inviting the community to review and provide feedback on the draft preferred alternative for the U.S. 101 Community Connections Plan.

The proposed improvements include enhanced sidewalks, bicycle facilities, pedestrian safety upgrades, business access considerations, and streetscape enhancements designed to improve the function and character of Gold Beach's Main Street.

This is an opportunity to learn more about the proposed concept, explore the planned improvements, and share your thoughts before the plan moves forward. Whether you live, work, own a business, or visit downtown, your input is an important part of the planning process.

The online open house is available through Sunday, July 27!

Barnacle Bistro Reopens Following Major Revitalization Project

Barnacle Bistro has officially reopened following the successful completion of its Oregon Main Street Revitalization Grant project. The renovation restored and modernized one of Gold Beach's longtime gathering places through extensive structural repairs, exterior restoration, kitchen improvements, accessibility upgrades, and other critical improvements designed to preserve the business for years to come.

The project was made possible through a partnership between Oregon Main Street, Gold Beach Main Street, Barnacle Bistro owner Evan Boley, the City of Gold Beach, project manager Darryl Cross, contractors, and community volunteers. Together, they transformed a downtown landmark while helping strengthen the local economy and preserve an important piece of Gold Beach's character.

Gold Beach Main Street extends its sincere thanks to everyone who helped bring this project to life and invites the community to stop by Barnacle Bistro, enjoy a meal, and celebrate the successful completion of this remarkable community investment.

What’s Ahead

Celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of Collier H. Buffington Memorial Park!

Join Gold Beach Main Street and the City of Gold Beach as we celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of Collier H. Buffington Memorial Park on Wednesday, August 5, from 3:00–7:00 PM. This FREE, family-friendly event marks the completion of the park's exciting new playground, a long-awaited addition that local children have been eagerly anticipating all summer.

The celebration begins with a Ribbon Cutting at 3:00 PM, followed by the unveiling of a 30-year-old time capsule at 3:15 PM. Throughout the afternoon, enjoy live music by The Shark Tones from Brookings, challenge friends and family to a variety of yard games, and reconnect with neighbors as we celebrate this renewed community gathering place.

There will be plenty of delicious food and refreshments available throughout the event. Casita Loka Taco Truck, Arch Rock Brewing, and the Gold Beach Main Street BBQ will all be on site.

This celebration is made possible through the partnership of Gold Beach Main Street and the City of Gold Beach, with generous support from Rogue Credit Union, Arch Rock Brewing, and other community partners. Together, we're celebrating more than a new playground, we're celebrating a space where children can play, families can gather, and our community can continue creating memories for generations to come.

Improving Ellensburg

Gold Beach Main Street's Economic Vitality Committee, led by Committee Chair and GBMS Treasurer Briana Baxter, has launched a new sidewalk cleaning initiative to help create a cleaner, more welcoming downtown.

The effort brings together One Bag at a Time (OBAAT), for which GBMS proudly serves as fiscal sponsor, along with Welcome Home Oregon, the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), and the City of Gold Beach. We're grateful to ODOT and the City for providing equipment and to OBAAT for supplying additional cleanup materials.

Because many downtown sidewalks are privately owned, we encourage business and property owners to stay tuned and join us. These efforts help keep sidewalks clear of debris and hazards while bringing our community together to care for downtown.

The next sidewalk cleanups are planned for July 30, August 6, August 13, and August 20. Meeting locations will be announced on the Gold Beach Main Street Facebook page. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, and we'd love to see more businesses get involved as we continue making Gold Beach shine, one sidewalk at a time.
